How to Dry Tofu in the Oven

Drying tofu in the oven is a quick and easy way to achieve the perfect texture and flavor for your recipes. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Press the Tofu

Before drying your tofu, it’s important to press it to remove any excess moisture. Place the block of tofu between two paper towels or a clean kitchen towel and press it firmly with your hands or a tofu press. Let the tofu sit for 10 to 15 minutes, until most of the moisture has been absorbed by the towels.

Step 2: Cut the Tofu

Next, cut the pressed tofu into your desired size and shape. Common shapes include cubes, slices, and triangles.

Step 3: Line a Baking Sheet

Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

Step 4: Place the Tofu on the Baking Sheet

Arrange the cut tofu pieces on the lined baking sheet. Make sure the pieces are not touching each other to allow for even drying.

Step 5: Bake the Tofu

Bake the tofu in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway through, until the surface is slightly tacky to the touch.

Step 6: Store the Dried Tofu

Once the tofu is dry, remove it from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Store the dried tofu in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

By following these simple steps, you can dry tofu in the oven quickly and easily. Whether you’re making a stir-fry, a salad, or a soup, dried tofu will add delicious flavor and texture to your dish.
