What food is poisonous to Deer?

There are several types of plants and foods that are toxic to deer, including:

  • Azaleas
  • Rhododendrons
  • Yew
  • Mountain laurel
  • Buttercups
  • Poison ivy
  • Poison oak
  • Poison sumac
  • Nightshade
  • Hemlock

  • Larkspur

Deer should also avoid eating moldy or spoiled food, as it can be harmful to their health. Additionally, certain types of human food, such as processed foods and junk foods, should be avoided as they are not part of a deer’s natural diet and can cause health problems.

It’s important to note that deer are adaptable animals and may change their diet according to the availability of food. If in a region where these plants are scarce, deer may eat them if they are the only option.
